Nigerian producer budgets N120m for 1st animation film,’Frogeck’

 

The director of EbonyLife’s upcoming movie, ‘Chief Daddy’, Niyi Akinmolayan, has said a total of N120 million will be spent on his first animation film, ‘Frogeck.’
Akinmolayan made this known during the Animation film day at the recently held African International Film Festival.
“The initial budget was N120m in development, that is about 300,000 Euros. We have opened up for people to have equity of 35%. We are looking at a N30m budget for marketing amongst other things,” the Wedding Party II director disclosed.
Speaking further, Akinmolayan, whose company has signed a collaboration deal with a foreign firm in producing the animation feature film further gave other details about  the  film.
“The second teaser of the movie will be released in February 2019. We are not creating only Nigerian characters but adding characters in French and Swahili names as well as distributing internationally. We need ‘Frogeck’ to travel and reach every part of Africa.
“It will be distributed by filmone. it is a Nigerian film worked upon by Nigerians while collaborating with a lot of studios and doing some sort of exchange,” he said.
On November 5, 2018, Niyi Akinmolayan released the first teaser of his animation film project, Frogeck on his Twitter handle and YouTube page.
The teaser of the full animation film is coming few days after a Tunisian game studio, Saphir Production signed a partnership deal with Akinmolayan’s Anthill studios.
Frogeck tells the story of a young alien who was abandoned on a hill somewhere in Ibadan, Nigeria and how he was found by three kids living in an orphanage.
Frogeck, a Nigerian full feature animated film is directed by Nurudeen Momodu, a CG artist and lead animator at Anthill studios.
