2018 Bursary: NAKSS releases modalities as disbursement begins today

The National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS), at the weekend released modalities for the disbursement of 2018 bursary which is scheduled to commence today (Monday).
In a statement signed by the quartet of the President, Comrade Musa Mohammed Mancha, Senate President, Abdulazeez Ahmad El-Immam, Chief Judge, Moshood Ibrahim and National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Salihu Ayatullahi, NAKSS said the disbursement process will start from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, Oyo State and to other South West state-owned tertiary institutions.
The group added that the disbursement will continue in Northern states and then Kwara State tertiary institutions.
โWe also wish to notify the general public that the disbursement shall start with only final year students for now.
โImportantly, each student should come with his/her valid school identity card, admission letter and certificate of Kwara State origin as a way of proper identification.โ
The NAKSS leadership however appealed for maximum cooperation of students throughout the period of disbursement.
It would be recalled that the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed recently approved the release of the sum of N50million for the payment of bursary to students of Kwara State origin in tertiary institution across the country.
However in a chat with this medium, the Chairperson of the Scholarship Board, Barr. Fatimah Yusuf said the money will be released in two batches of N25million each, adding that the leadership of NAKSS in conjunction with her office has concluded ‘harvesting of names’.
Speaking further, Barr. Yusuf said that disbursement of N5,000 bursary will commence penultimate week through the issuance of cheque to qualified students.
