Kwara PDP condemns fresh plot by FG, APC to unseat Saraki

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has condemned fresh moves by the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government to employ state institutions to forcefully remove the Senate President and national leader of the party, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki from office.
According to the party in a statement signed by its state chairman, Engr Kola Shittu, having failed woefully in their several previous attempts to illegally remove Saraki, the presidency and the APC are orchestrating new plot to use the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to unseat the Senate President.
The statement read in parts:
“Their plan, as uncovered by the PDP is to use the Police and the DSS to concoct false allegations and charges against Saraki in order to arrest, detain and illegally convict him, which is a deliberate ploy to distract him from discharging his official duties and carrying out his functions as the Director-General of PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation.
“The Kwara PDP describes the renewed plot to remove Saraki as illegal, undemocratic, devilish, and notes that this latest attempt will be unsuccessful like the previous ones. Every crude tactic by the enemies of democracy to unseat Saraki will fail.
“While we condemn this act of impunity, we call on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to desist from using state apparatus to harass and intimidate opposition figures. One of the ways we can safeguard our democracy is to ensure that state institutions remain independent and nonpartisan.
“We also implore our national leader and Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki not to be distracted and remain courageous in the face of relentless attacks from anti-democratic forces. Kwarans and indeed Nigerians are supporting you and our presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to rescue our country and get Nigeria working again’.
