Unveiling the academy on Monday at the Kwara State stadium Sports council’s conference Hall, Ilorin, the chairman of the academy who also double as a member of Kwara FA, Engr. Yusuf Idris charged the state government on the need to fund sports.
According to him, if the government can aid private involvement in raising football academy, it would aided the discovery of talent in the state.
“If the Kwara State government can come to our aid, at the end of the day, we will source for indigenous players here in Kwara instead of looking outside for talent.”
Idris said he and the team were in the state capital to present the team to the board of Kwara FA before heading to Abuja.
He added that the competition is solely organised by a club from Germany to discover young talent in Nigeria and TJ Academy is to represent Kwara.
“About 8 clubs were invited across the country. They we select the best in the competition to form a formidable team that will be presented to the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).”
He further stressed that he single-handedly funded the football academy since about three years ago, and uses the medium to appeal to the Kwara State government to come to aid individual participation in raising football talent.
