Igbomina/Ekiti Muslims donate cash, foodstuff to motherless home

The Igbomina/Ekiti Muslims Forum has presented foodstuff of various types and cash donation to the Kwara State Children Resource Center for onward distribution to the motherless babies and adults under its care.
Presenting the gift items to the officer in-charge of the center along Pipe Line road, Ilorin, the President of the forum, Alhaji Abdulazeez Olawuyi said the gesture was to identify with the indigent at this festive period of Ramadan.
Olawuyi said the decision of the forum to provide them with the items was to create a moment of joy and happiness for these disadvantaged children as the Eid-el-Fitr festival holds this week.
He pledged that the forum would facilitate and sponsor the admission of one of the children of the center who is currently seeking for admission in a tertiary institution.
The forum president who is also the Principal of Muslim Secondary Commercial School, Igbaja in Ifelodun Local Government area of Kwara State, said members of the forum are Muslims from the five local government areas in the Kwara South Senatorial District which include Ifelodun, Irepodun, Ekiti, Isin and Oke-Ero Local Governments.
He said the forum’s cardinal objectives are to provide succour for orphans, widows, needy and other less privileged in the society among other humanitarian services.
In her response, a social Welfare Officer in the centre, Mrs Balogun Mojisola said the centre is taking care of six categories of children which include abandoned children, motherless babies, children of lunatics, Disputed children, abandoned children and lastly repatriated children.
Mojisola, on behalf of the Commissioner for Women Affair and Social Development Alhaja Taibat Ayinde Ahmed, thanked the members of Igbomina/Ekiti Muslim Forum for showing interest in the upkeep of the children and pledged that the gesture would be used for the purpose it was given.
Materials donated include cash donation, bag of rice, groundnut oil, noodles, cornflakes, sugar and toiletries among others.
