U-23 invitee, Ajanah eyes Eagles’ shirt
A national U-23 invitee and Katsina United defender, Chinedu Ajanah has said his ultimate dream is to play for the senior national team, the Super Eagles.
Although the hard tackling defender is a member of the Home-based Super Eagles, he told Daily Trust yesterday that he will use the new opportunity to convince Gernot Rohr that he has what is required to play for the Super Eagles.
Ajanah, who played for the Home-based Super Eagles against Atletico Madrid, said his invitation to the National U-23 team has taken him closer to his dream.
The former ABS FC defender said the battle for shirts in the team has started in earnest and he is bracing up to the challenge.
“I am happy with the invitation from Coach Amapakabo for me to be in the camp of the National U-23 team.
“Having played for the Home-based Super Eagles, my dream is to play for the senior national team.
“This new opportunity has come at the right time because it is going to boost my career. I will not allow it to be a waste. I will work hard to be an integral member of the team.
“Although getting into the team is not going to be a stroll in the park, I am confident that hard work and dedication will see me through,” he stated.
Ajanah also expressed confidence that shuttling between the national camp and his club duties won’t distract him from doing his job in the U-23 camp.
He said barring unforeseen circumstances, he is hoping to be in league action for Katsina United against Enyimba in Aba on Wednesday.
“I will be combing the camp with playing for Katsina United. It is not going to be easy but God will see me through.
“I will be travelling to join my club in Aba where we are to play Enyimba FC on Wednesday (tomorrow), he said.
