37-yr old remanded over N1.4m fraud

The Magistrate court sitting in Ilorin the Kwara State capital has remanded one Adegoke Peter over alleged fraud of N1.4m.
The Police First Information Report revealed that one Mallam Jamiu Salawudeen of No 58 Temidire street, Gaa Akanbi area reported that while he was in his shop with Peter, he received a phone call from one of his customers who wanted to supply him charcoal.
The FIR further revealed that Peter after a while made contacts and told Salawudeen that has a buyer for the charcoal. The deal was done and ten tones of charcoal was released through Peter to the tune of N1,400.000 which was transferred into his keystone account no. 6010001190 which he also promised to do same to Salawudeen which he refused to send.
Investigation further revealed that Peter confessed to the crime during interrogation at the Area Command office Ilorin.
He was dragged before Magistrate Ibrahim Dasuki for obtaining goods by false pretence contrary to Section 1 Sub (1), (a) ,(b), (c), (3) of Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offence Act of 2006, criminal intimidation, criminal breach of trust and cheating contrary to sections 397, 312 and 322 of penal code law.
The Prosecutor, Zacheaus Folorunsho prayed the court to remand the accused person since he was tracked down before arrest.
Counsel to the accused person however prayed the court to grant the accused person bail on health grounds as the accused person is said to be asthmatic.
In his rulling, Dasuki remanded the accused in prison. Meanwhile the matter has been adjourned to 19th March, 2019 for hearing.
