Kannike presents grader to Ilorin East, Ilorin South LGs

Ilorin East and Ilorin South local governments have been charged to make judicious and efficient use of the grader presented to them by a member representing the constituency at the Federal House of Representative, Hon. Abubakar Amuda-Kannike.

He gave the charge at the weekend during the presentation ceremony at his constituency office, in Ilorin.

Kannike, who was represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Barr. Lanre Giwa said the presentation of the grader was one of the many intervention packages to impact positively on the people of the Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal constituency.

According to him, the parliamentarian has provided intervention to the people in various sectors such as electricity, education, water and vocational training.

The former commissioner appealed to the two local governments not to allow civil service bureaucracy to impede the effective functioning and use of the grader, saying such development   would defeat the objective of giving the grader to the two councils.

Kannike posited that the presentation of the grader to his constituency was a promise fulfilled, adding that during his campaign in 2015 he promised to provide grader for the two councils to grade all rural roads in Ilorin East and Ilorin South.

Responding on behalf of the two councils, the Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government Area, Engr. Abdulmumeen Lah who commended the lawmaker added that no Federal Constituency has ever been presented with a heavy duty machine in the political history of Kwara State.

Engr. Lah stated that the two councils would not only institutionalise the grader but thrust the positive impact on the people of the federal constituency.

The council chairman promised that the grader will be used for the purpose to which it was provided, adding that the two councils would not allow the heavy duty machine to suffer maintenance.

Dignitaries present at the occasion were the Chairman of Ilorin South Local Government Area, Hajia Funilayo Salau, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) executives, Directors of Personnel Management and Heads of Departments from the two councils.
