Recession: Only sacrificial love can keep homes together – Cleric

The General Overseer of Peculiar Gospel Ministry, Pastor Joseph Babatunde has said it is only by expressing true and sacrificial love that families can survive  the current economic hardship.

The cleric, who made the disclosure during the Women Thanksgiving Service at the Church headquarters in Imode, Oke-Ero LG of Kwara  State recently urged Christians to show love in their daily activities.

Speaking on the topic: Let there be Love, for God is Love, the cleric stated that true love is not easily provoked, does not think evil of others and not rejoice in iniquity but rather rejoice in the truth.

“There are too many issues that easily provoke us these days due to the prevailing economic challenges. It is only sacrificial Love that can help us to keep our homes and help us to weather the storms of life,” he said

Babatunde emphasised that Love is a decision of commitment, expressed as a strong feeling of affection and attraction.

“The Bible teaches us that God is the source of love and that His very character is love. Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get- only with what you are expecting to give- which is everything. In Acts 20:35: Jesus said “It is more blessed to give than to receive, “he added.

Citing John 3:16&17, the cleric lamented that despite the love of God for mankind, man has continued to fail Him.

“Despite the steadfast love of God towards mankind, man continually failed Him up to Malachi at the end of the Old Testament. Then came the Dark Age for over 400 years before Christ as there was no communication between God and man. Then God sent His only begotten son, as the ultimate sacrifice, out of His steadfast love, to save mankind from sins and destruction,” the clergyman explained.
