2 herdsmen arrested for beating man to death

Two cattle rearers, Shehu Abubakar and Abdulkareem Maikudi both of Idofian, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State are in police custody over alleged murder case.

The duo, who were arrested by men of the Kwara Police Command, reportedly killed a fellow herdsman,  Musa Kareem, penultimate Sunday.

Pilot Crime learnt that remains of the deceased was found in the bush with visibly marks of violence.

According to a police source, the case was reported by the dead victim’s father, Yusuf Kareem to Divisional Police headquarters in Fufu, Ilorin South Local Government Area of the state.

“His son penultimate Wednesday left his camp with his cattle for grazing. At evening time, the cattle returned home but his son was missing.

“He said the community constituted a search team and for two days his son’s where about was unknown.”

The source divulged that on the third day the corpse of Musa was found under a tree, where he had gone to graze.

“Following investigation and tip off, the culprits were arrested.  The case was transfered to Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

“The suspects confessed to have conspired to kill the deceased. According to him, they beat the victim with sticks till life was snuffed out of him.

“They confessed to have killed their victim so as to take possession of his phone. Investigation is ongoing to recover the mobile phone, ” he added.

When contacted, the Kwara State police Command Spokesperson, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the matter adding that, the case is currently undergoing investigation.

In a related development, two persons, Kamarudeen Sulaiman and Taofeeq Shehu were arrested by men of Kwara State Police Command for allegedly killing one Isiaka Sikiru of Otte area, Ilorin, recently.

Pilot Crime learnt that the victim was lured from his home by his friend simply identified as Rafiu to unknown place in Otte, where he was murdered.

According to police source, the case was reported at the Divisional Police headquarters in Otte by family members of the deceased.

“He was with his wife when one of his friends, Rafiu invited him to a place to settle a lingering rift between them.

“His whereabout was unknown until about 8pm on the fateful day when his wife received information that Isiaka was being attacked by some persons.

“By the time they got to the scene, Isiaka was found lying unconscious in the pool of his blood and gave up the ghost before he got to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead,” the source narrated.

The source added that the suspects were arrested following outcome of investigation by the police.

“The investigation led to the arrest of Kamorudeen Sulaiman a.k.a “Aiyeniromo and Taofeeq Shehu a.k.a Eleru. They confessed to be a member of a group called “Winning Base”.

“The suspect informed the investigating officers that they conspired with other members who are now at large to kill the deceased. They said they murdered Isiaka over leadership tussle in Otte.”

The police source stated further that investigation is ongoing to arrest other suspect who are at large.
