Kwara Customs distributes seized items to orphanage, IDPs

Nigeria Customs Service has begun free distribution of seized items kept at the government warehouse located at Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Chairman of sub-committee for the distribution of seized items to orphanage homes and Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, Yakubu Salihu supervised the distribution.
He said the exercise became necessary following a directive from the presidency to distribute seized items freely as relief items to the less privileged.
According to him, “Nigeria Customs Service got presidential approval to distribute perishable items like rice, vegetable oil, used cloths, spaghetti etc to alleviate the suffering of the masses. And the service was asked to make sure they are distributed to recognized and registered orphanages and IDPs.
“The exercise started from Lagos which comprises of south west states of Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Ekiti and Ogun states.”
Speaking to Pilot Crime in a telephone interview, the Deputy Comptroller Custom of Ilorin Office, Alhaji Abu confirmed that the exercise followed order given by the presidency for the distribution of seized items.
He disclosed that the items are being distributed by the National PRO at the command headquarters.
He further disclosed that the officer will be back in the state for final distribution.
