Farayola’s goal gives Kwara Utd win over Ifeanyi Ubah

There was serious tension on Sunday at the Kwara state stadium as Kwara United defeated visiting Ifeanyi Ubah 1-0 in NPFL week six encounter.
Kwara United went into this game with boosted morale having defeated Enyimba last Wednesday, but the Harmony Boys labored hard to get this deserved victory.
Biffo’s men started this game impressively looking for an early goal and it was in the 7th minute they got their chance which was wasted by Kalu Nweke.
Ten minutes later, Chisom Samuel had a brilliant chance to give Kwara United the lead, but he blasted the ball over the bar after being brilliantly set up by Jide Fatokun.
United has many chances to score in the first half, but the luck was against them in a tension soaked battle.
Ifeanyi Ubah tried all they could not to concede in Ilorin with their perfect delay tactics, but Olawale Farayola broke their hearts as he scored the goal which condemned the visitors to a defeat in the 86th minute.
The Nnewi side almost scored at the last minute, but goalkeeper Dele Aiyenugba was at his best to deny them with incredible save as the former Super Eagles goalie has now kept three clean sheets.
Kwara United will be traveling to Lagos where they will face MFM in their next NPFL match this coming Sunday.
With this win over Ifeanyi Ubah, Kwara United are now occupying fifth position on the NPFL standings with 11 points and are only 3 points behind table toppers Nasarawa United.
Meanwhile, Sunshine Stars and Nasarawa United recorded away wins in the Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday.
At the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Sunshine Stars beat their hosts Dakkada 2-1 in a thrilling contest.
Sadeeq Yusuf directed his header into the net from Seun Olulayo’s corner kick in the 12th minute.
Jesam Edet equalised for the home team a minute after the hour mark.
Yusuf scored the winning goal in the 67th minute after another assist by Olulayo.
In Uzoro, Nasarawa United came back from a goal down to record a 2-1 win against their hosts Warri Wolves.
Uche Ihuarulam headed Wolves in front from a Jumbo Wisdom pinpoint cross in the 21st minute.
Silas Nwankwo equalised for Nasarawa United in the 63rd minute following poor defending by the home team.
The visitors netted the winner through Chinedu Ohanachom 12 minutes from time.
Heartland recorded their second win of the season edging out Akwa United 2-1 at the Okigwe Township Stadium.
Mfon Udoh poked the ball beyond Ikechukwu Ezenwa in the 34th minute following a pass from Seth Mayi.
Heartland rallied back through goals from Samuel Nnoshiri and Nduka Pasacal Eze.
In another fixture, Rangers and Lobi Stars battled to a 0-0 draw at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium, Enugu.
Abia Warriors were also held to a 0-0 draw by MFM.
