No excuse for Govs not to implement new minimum wage – Ex presidential candidate

A former presidential candidate and National chairman of Alliance National Party (ANP), Asiwaju Mashood Shittu has called on state governors to implement the N30,000 minimum wage without excuse.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had signed the minimum wage into law few weeks ago after the passage by the Saraki-led Senate
He made the call during an interview with this medium at Ilorin International Airport at the weekend.
According to him, there were series of meetings between the Federal Government and the various state governors before reaching an agreement on the minimum wage and any excuse at this stage of the process is not tenable.
“So I don’t think the governors have any excuse not to implement the N30,000 minimum wage. It’s certain that the Federal Government will increase the financial allocations to the state to augment this development”, he noted.
Shittu stressed that the civil servants who are working tirelessly need to have relief of their financial status in other to meet their daily basic needs and called on the governors to think outside the box to turn the situation to a goldmine for their respective states.
The ANP chairman called on Nigerians to support the current administration so that President Buhari can deliver on his promise.
“We as politicians our prayer is whoever wins the election should formulate development agenda for our people. The president should focus on infrastructural development that will benefit all nooks and crannies in the country.
He urged the president to carry all the geopolitical zones along in the distribution of resources to achieve peace and harmony in the country.
