Christians have been warned against taking the life, as it is an act that leads to eternal damnation.
The Zonal Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Gideon Majekodunmi gave the warming in his sermon at the Vine Parish of Zone 3 of RCCG, Olorunsogo, Ilorin, Kwara State, yesterday.
The Pastor urged Christians not to be weary in their faith in God, but rather wait upon the Lord even in times of trouble.
He added that God has a time table for life events of individuals, hence the need for them to submit to the will of God at all times.
The pastor, who decried the spate of suicide in contemporary time, reminded believers that God is with them even when they are faced with challenges of life.
Majekodunmi admonished Christians not to be discouraged by the vicissitudes of life but be strong in faith for an expected end.
“There is time for everything and nobody can change God’s timetable. He is the beginning and the ending. Therefore Christians should wait for their set time.
” That you are going through challenges does not mean that God has forgotten you. Sometimes some things happen for a reason. So, don’t kill yourself before the set time for your glory.
Don’t write yourself off; if you kill yourself you will not make heaven. Suicide is not the solution to problems,” he further said.
The Cleric, however, pointed out that sin can hinder Christians from accessing God’s favour and prevent their prayers from being answered.
He urged believers to always obey God, live righteous life and honour Him in all they do in order to enjoy His mercy and favour.
“Examine your life for your prayers to be answered, be willing to obey God at all times, honour Him with your life and He will beautify your life.
“It is only God who can help you, give you promotion, make your glory shine and fulfil your dreams. It is only Him that favours. When God favour you, man must also favour you,” he added.
