NSE seeks patronage of indigenous engineers by KWSG

The Ilorin branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has appealed to the Kwara State Government to engage indigenous engineers and engineering firms in the infrastructural development of the state.
This was contained in a statement issued in Ilorin at the weekend by the Ilorin branch Chairman of NSE, Engr. Moshood Abdulkadir Akanbi.
The society noted that registered members and firms had proven their mettle over time.
It added that the indigenous professionals have the requisite technical knowhow, machineries and tools to compete favourably with their contemporaries from any part of the world.
The NSE also pleaded with the Governor to appoint engineers as heads of engineering based parastatals and ministries in the state, especially those whose edicts clearly stipulate so, such as Kwara State Water Corporation, amongst others.
The society assured the state government of commitment of its members to move Kwara forward.
The NSE, however, felicitated with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on his recent taking over of mantle of leadership as the seventh democratically elected governor of the state.
The society also hailed the emergence of Engr. Saliu Danladi as the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and appointment of Engr. Aminu Logun as the Chief of Staff to the Governor.
“We wish to use this medium to passionately appeal to His Excellency, to please engage Indigenous Engineers and Engineering Firms in the infrastructural development of the State, as Indigenous Engineers and Engineering Firms had proven over time that they are up to the task and has the technical knowhow, machineries and tools to compete favourably with their contemporaries from any part of the world.
“We are also appealing to the Executive Governor to appoint Engineers to head Engineering based Parastatals and Ministries in the State, most especially those whose edicts clearly states so, like Kwara State Water Corporation, amongst others.
“We are assuring His Excellency of the genuine commitment of our members who are civil servants and those in private practice in moving the state forward to a greater height”, the statement said.
