Youths’ empowerment panacea to crime, insecurity – NYCN
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kwara State Chapter has
said youth empowerment is never the sole responsibility of government
alone, adding that all stakeholders must play their part to engender a
truly just society free of crimes and insecurity.
The Chairman of the state council, Comrade Alli Nasiru stated this at
the weekend during an employment programme organised by the council
for 150 Kwara youths at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Sports,
in Ilorin.
Alli, said the training, which was on SIM upgrading and data business
is aimed at complementing the efforts of the state Governor, Alhaji
Abdulraman Abdulrazaq on youth empowerment and poverty eradication.
The Chairman, who advised the Governor to make job creation and
youths’ empowerment as the focal of his administration also urged him
to name vibrant and veteran youths leaders in his cabinets.
Speaking while declaring the event open, Abdulsalam Akeem, who
represented the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports
Development, charged the participants to be committed to the job as it
will make them self reliant for the rest of their lives.
According to the Chairman of the Council, the scheme can afford the
participants the opportunity to make at least N60,000 monthly without
start up capital.
