Plan is underway partnership between Kwara Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) and the Estate, Rent and Commission Agents Association of Nigeria (ERCAAN) to ensure seamless revenue collection from the association.
Speaking during an interview with Pilot Business at the national convention of the association held in Ilorin on Wednesday, the Representative of KWIRS Chairman, Mrs. Maimuna Amusa said ” we are here to partner with ERCAAN to ensure smooth revenue collection from them.
“Like other associations they are seeking for a uniform collection from the group and we’re considering them like amnesty they will get deduction through this arrangement.
” Though some of them will still pay individually while others through cooperative groups since their strength of funds generation in businesses is not equal,” she explained.
Amusa said that the revenue agency is working hard to ensure that the atmosphere in the state is conducive for business activities.
In his remarks, Kwara state Chairman ERCAAN, Chief Rasheed Balogun, said the association has been transformed and rebranded to collaborate with the revenue agency for smooth operations.
He solicited for reduction in the tax for members, noting that the level of patronage from clients is still low.
The Chairman then called on the state government to provide them with befitting location to site their Secretariat and monetary supports from the financial institutions.
The ERCAAN boss noted that the state government should always involve all stakeholders in the sector to formulate an agenda for its growth.
“There is a need for an effective and result-oriented approach for service providers to have a hold on the industry. Basic infrastructure should be the major concern of all levels of government to instil confidence in both local and foreign investors.
“All stakeholders must be seen to be working for the effectiveness of the system. The government’s idea of making the sector an all comers’ affair should be properly redefined. ”
According to him, the association is planning to form synergy with the security agencies in the state to curb quackery and fraudulent activities in their line of business.
