Ilorin NBA set to begin law week, today

The Ilorin branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) will today commence the three days 2019 biennial law week which will focus on the theme ‘Advancing Socio-Economic Fortunes through Effective Administration of Criminal Justice.
The event which comes up biennially is designed to bring members of the bench as well as the bar together and dialogue on challenges facing judiciary sector among other national issues.
The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is expected to declare the event open.
Among the discussants who will be speaking on the theme include; Justice Sikiru Oyinloye, Joseph Bamigboye SAN, former speaker, Kwara House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad, state Director of Public Prosecution, Adebimpe Mumini and Chief Magistrate, Muhammed Ibrahim.
The NBA Chairman, Muhammed Idowu Akande, described the programme as a big event that will parade top personalities in the legal profession.
For the period of three days, Akande said court proceedings would be stalled.
Speaking on the choice of the theme for the law week, the NBA chairman stressed that criminal justice law passed last year by the Kwara State has gone a long way to influence it.
He added that the development has helped greatly in ensuring convictions.
He added that the event will also be evaluating impacts of the Kwara-based Federal prosecuting agency.
“It focuses on the administration of criminal justice in Kwara State, it is an elaborate programme.”
