Greatkay remembers late parents, organises special prayers

AbdulRahman Abdullahi Kayode, popularly known as Greatkay, together with his siblings, held 30th-year and 2nd-year remembrance prayers for their late mother and father, Alhaja Hassanah Taiye Abdulrahman Alase, and Alhaji Abdulrahman Sidiq Alase, at their Pakata family quarters in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.

Mr. Abdullahi described more than three decades of life without their mother as challenging and equally rewarding for himself and his siblings, saying he is ready to recommit himself to building on the great works that they started while they were alive.

While reflecting on many things that have happened in the last 30 years, he thanked the Almighty Allah for His infinite mercies and protections.

He begged Allah to forgive them for their sins on Earth and prayed that they be counted among the righteous in Aljannah Fridaus.

“I felt surreal that even after about 30 years, testimonies of their good deeds are pointers that their lifetimes were dedicated to the service of the Almighty and humanity.”

He said, “I appreciate the Islamic scholars, our family members, friends, and political and business associates who stood by us before and during the prayers.” I especially appreciate Her Excellency Princess (Barr.) Toyin Saraki supporting us and being ably represented by Hon. (Princess) Segilola Abdulkadir and others. I equally thank Alhaji Mustapha Ope Saraki for his precious time.

He did, however, express gratitude to those who could not attend the prayers for various reasons, including the Tafida of Ilorin, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, CON; the 2023 Governorship Candidate of the PDP in Kwara State, Alhaji Shuaibu Abdullahi Yaman; the DG of the Kwara PDP Governorship Campaign Organization, Rt. Hon. (Prof.) Ali Ahmad; the Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi; the Talba of Ebira Land, Alhaji Hamza Usman and many others.
