The past one month has been a turbulent period for former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia.
On July 15, 2019, reports of the kidnap of his septugenarian mother Beauty Ogere in Odoni, Sagbama Local Government area of Bayelsa state broke to the public.
One month later, while madam Beauty is still in her abductors’ custody and a ransom of N70 million yet to be found, Siasia was banned from football for life by FIFA.
His ban was announced by FIFA on August 16, for agreeing to the manipulation of matches for the purpose of betting.
But the former U20 coach has responded and said he will challenge the decision as he is innocent.
“I am innocent of the claims by FIFA, and I will challenge it to the highest level. Nobody told me of any investigation and I don’t have any dealings with Wilson Raj Perumal who was investigated for betting by FIFA as claimed by FIFA.
“This is character assassination and I cannot allow it to just go unchallenged. I must get Justice because I am innocent. I don’t know where this came from, somebody must be out there trying to ruin me but God will vindicate me” Siasia stated
“God will see me through,” Siasia enthused.
