Saraki commences renovation of 35 mosques in Kwara

The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, has slated 35 mosques for comprehensive renovation in the four local government areas that made up his Kwara Central constituency.
The renovation of the mosques would, however, be executed in phases with five mosques across Ilorin West, Ilorin East and Ilorin South local government areas selected in the first phase.
They are Omoda mosque (Ilorin West), Jagun mosque (Ilorin East), Afanta mosque (Ilorin South),
Isalekoto mosque, (Ilorin South) and Eleran mosque, Akalambi (Ilorin East).
The renovation of the five mosques would gulp a whopping sum of N200 million and the Senate President has already released N100 million for the commencement of work.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after inspecting the selected mosques in Ilorin, the Director- General of ABS constituency office, Ilorin, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, said the worship facilities were slated for renovation by Saraki in response to people’s requests.
“The renovation of the mosques is long overdue but for economic reasons, the people cannot do it by themselves and they therefore sought the intervention of the Senate President. The first phase which comprises of five mosques would cost N200m. The Senate President has released N100m to kick start the renovation,” Abdullahi disclosed.
He said he was impressed by the level of work done so far on the five mosques visited by his team.
In his remarks, the ABS Director of Project and Empowerment, Engr Yinka Otukoko, said the renovation would cover all needed infrastructure in the mosques. He added that toilet facilities would also be provided, aside plastering, flooring, tiling, roofing and painting.
Otukoko said the projects would be completed before the commencement of the Muslims fast( Ramadan).
