20-yr-old remanded over alleged murder in Ilorin

The Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin the Kwara State capital has remanded one Mohammed Rebu Babuga over alleged murder of one Mohammed Leggi while grazing.
The police First Information Report (FIR) revealed that the case transferred from Divisional Police Headquarters Lade Kwara State to Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) Ilorin for discreet investigation.
The FIR revealed that on 13th September, 2019, one Goma Usman of the Fulani camp Kakafu via Lade Kwara state reported at Lade police station that on that same day one of his son Goma Yakubu informed him that he left home with Leggi for grazing and while grazing Babuga invited Leggi to an unknown place in the bush and since then Leggi had not been seen.
The report further revealed that during investigation, Babuga admitted that he and Leggi now deceased had misunderstand on 12th September ,2019 and was settled the following day. Babuga further admitted that he met with Leggi while grazing and there ensued a fight where Babuga matcheted Leggi which led to his death.
He was dragged before Magistrate Tinuola Ajayi for culpable homicide contrary to section 221 of penal code law.
The prosecutor Alhassan Jibrin said the matter is still under investigation. The FIR was accompanied with a motion exparte of 12 paragraphs and an evidence duplicate of the case file to the Ministry of Justice for legal advice, he divulged.
In his ruling, Ajayi said the plea of the defendant cannot be heard as the matter is not within the jurisdiction of the court. He granted the prayer of the prosecutor by remanding the defendant in prison custody while the case has been adjourned to 22nd October, 2019.
