Welder remanded over unlawful possession of human parts in Ilorin

A Welder, Yusuf Shehu was on Monday arraigned before Magistrate Ahmed Dasuki over unlawful removal and possession of human parts for alleged ritual purpose.
The crime is contrary to section 7 and 2 punishable under section 12(a) and (b) of the Kwara State prohibition of dealing in human parts Law No. 4 of 2018.
The police First Information Report revealed that on the 18th September, 2019, a patrol team attached to Operation Harmony of the Kwara State Police Command led by one Supol Hudi and four others posted to Eiyenkorin Area Ilorin, intercepted a commercial bus heading to Lagos.
According to the report, during a random search on the vehicle and passengers, one Yusuf Shehu of No 11 Alkali street Isale Koto Area, Ilorin was found in the possession of a cowry, some quantity of human hair, native black soap in a container, shredded white cloth and other criminal charms which he could not account for.
During investigation conducted at the Criminal and Investigative Department of the command in Ilorin, Shehu confessed that he was sent by one Alfa Gafar to deliver the charm in Lagos State but he does not know the address and identity of the person and that the human hair found in his possession was meant for rituals.
The Prosecutor, Kayode Rhodes prayed the court to remand the defendant as the FIR is accompanied with a motion exparte backed up with an affidavit of nine paragraphs deposed to by one Sergeant Adeboye Adebayo and a duplicate of the case file sent to the Minister of Justice for legal advice.
The Magistrate Dasuki remanded the defendant to prison custody.
