The Kwara State Chapter of Engine Lubricant Dealers, NUPENG have appealed to the state appeal Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq for financial support.
The association requested for grants of N20 million for the expansion of their businesses.
The state Chairman of the association, Alhaji Ishola Suleiman made the appeal during the inauguration of the new executives of Zone 10 held in Ilorin recently.
He said several efforts by the association to access loan for the business expansion of members have been futile overtime.
He said, ” Like other associations in the state during the last administration we formed a cooperative and approached the state government through the Ministry of Commence and Cooperatives for loans but all our efforts did not yield fruit.
“Though the former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed gave approval for the loans to be granted to us but unfortunately the ministry failed to release it for us.
“We are therefore soliciting for empowerment in form of grants or loans for our members to enhance our businesses in the state.
“Our membership is about 4,500 cutting across the 16 Local Government Areas and we have been paying regular taxes to the Kwara Internal Revenue Service.”
He urged the state Governor to direct the ministry to look into the request with a view to saving that sector from going under in the state.
“We are assuring you that if we’re given N20 million loans our contribution towards revenue generation in the state will be heightened.
On the event, he said the inauguration of the new leadership of Zone 10 would strengthen their association and boost individual businesses.
He disclosed that the association has 20 zones across the state.
He, however, charged the new executives to carry members along in their activities for the association to record achievements.
