We picked our players on merit – Biffo

...as Kwara Utd set to unveil players

 

The Technical Adviser of Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin,
Abdullahi Biffo has  said the new crop of players that will prosecute
the Nigeria National League(NNL) for the club were purely picked on
merit.
Biffo stated this recently while fielding queations from newsmen in Ilorin.
According to him, the club has placed meritocracy above other things
in the quest to recruits best players to the team.
“We tried our best to pick the players that we thought will do the
job, considering the fact that NNL is a difficult task.
“The players are equal to the task, and we the technical crew are
ready”, he said.
Biffo further added that the selection into the team is ongoing, as
any exceptional player can still make it into the team.
Also speaking, General Manager of Kwara United Football Club, Bashir
Badawiy said that the players were carefully picked after over two
months of rigorous screening exercise.
He said the process included participation in four Pre-Season
tournaments, which was used to discover and test the new and old
players, before the final selections were made.
Kwara United FC participated in late Ogunjobi Pre-Season tournament in
Ilorin, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa Cup in Asaba, which they won, that of
Ijebu-Ode, as well as the Ahlan Pre-Season Cup in Kano state.
Badawiy added that the selections were made in consideration of the
cadre of league the team will play, especially considering the overall
target, which was to get the team back to the Premier League.
He thanked the government and the people of  Kwara State for their
support for the team.
The GM also lauded the technical crew and others, for their support
and understanding.
However, Kwara United Football Club will  unveil the players that will
fly the club’s flag in the forthcoming 2019/2020 Nigeria National
League (NNL), this week.
United will play in NNL Group A2, alongside Gombe United FC, Real
Stars of Kaduna, Niger Tornadoes of Minna, Rarara FC of Katsina,
El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, FC Taraba, Mighty Jets of Jos, Sokoto
United and EFCC, Abuja.
Kwara United FC will be playing its first game at home against Gombe
United FC, to kick-start the season.
