Pre-Season Friendly: Kwara Utd, Sunshine Stars share spoils

 

Kwara United FC came from behind today to end their friendly match
with Sunshine Stars at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium
Complex one-goal apiece, as Coach Abdullahi Biffo asks for more
friendly matches at home ahead of the season.
Sunshine Stars scored in the 44th minute, while Dede Mougara equalised
for the homers from the spot kick, in the 58th minute.
The 2019/2020 Nigeria National League (NNL) season kicks-off on
November 22nd, with Kwara United FC hosting Gombe United FC in their
first match of the season at home.
Coach Biffo, who expressed delight with the standard of play of his
team in the friendly encounter, said that if afforded him the
opportunity to know the team’s response, especially when playing at
home.
‘It wasn’t a bad game, especially considering the calibre of the
opposition, Sunshine Stars, who are a team ready for the commencement
of the NPFL season, but for their opponents, Rangers International who
are involved in CAF Confederation Cup match today’, he said.
‘Kwara United FC are a bit affected playing at home today against a
strong opposition, and that’s why we will be needing more of this,
before the season begins’, he added.
The Chief Coach of Sunshine Stars, Coach Kayode Julius, who also
expressed satisfaction with the match said that even though the NPFL
has started, the team is not 100 percent ready, but will continue to
improve as the season wears on.
‘It was a good game for us, and looks credible enough as alternative
to the Rangers International match which we did not play today’, he
averred.
‘It gave us the opportunity to notice some areas we have to improve
on, and we have to go back to the drawing board because of the tougher
challenges ahead in the league’.
