The ‘Certificate Drama Saga’ rocking our polity needs some drama in its explanations, though, I’m not a good writer, but I struggle hard to put myself in my readers’ position and don’t like putting them at my mercy in reading my jargons.
In any situation where there is privileged opportunity at any time of the day, minding own business is rather the best venture but peradventure our lives become somebody’s business then, that somebody’s business should rather be taken serious to be our business…since this is where we found ourselves. Such is life!
The above poem came to me just like a flash, and repeatedly I tried to ignore it as usual…someway and somehow here I am. Oh My Certificate. A three stanza poem narrates the turns in, and of our lives, or how else can one describe this certificate ‘saga’ with the turn of events in recent days?
Muhammadu Buhari through its verified twitter account @MBuhari said, “Today I received the attestation and confirmation of my 1961 West African School Certificate (WASC) Examination result, from the Registrar of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). It was also an opportunity for me to thank WAEC for upholding its integrity over the years”.
Femi Adesina @FemAdesina twitted “WAEC presents attestation certificate and confirmation of school cert result to President Buhari. What will the naysayers say next?”
WAEC Nigeria @waecnigeria twitted “Let’s educate ourselves a bit: 1. President Buhari was given Attestation of Results not a certificate; 2. Attestation of Results is given to a candidate whose certificate is damaged or missing; 3. It carries the passport photograph the candidate submitted during application”.
Imagine the latest scenario where Buhari APC-led government instituted a court action against an opposition aspirant from a south-western state, all because of nothing else but, Oh My Certificate
Buhari’s attestation/certificate forged and fake, Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) Chief  Executive Chairman, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman said this point blank, “The purported West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) Attestation/Confirmation School Certificate presented to President Muhammadu Buhari by the Council’ Registrar, Iyi Uwadiae is nothing but a fake and forged document”.
Without mincing his words, Sulaiman called “for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Uwadiae that perpetrated the fraudulent and satanic act”, stating further that “Buhari lacks the needed integrity to continue in office, not to talk of being re-elected as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2019.
On this note alone, the disqualification of President Buhari by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for his (Buhari) failure to submit his acclaimed highest qualification (WASC) to the electoral umpire as stipulated in the INEC Form CF001. He was also of the opinion that the idea of turning Buhari’s Affidavit to his certificate is wrong and illegal, saying that “INEC could not change the rule of the game because of one person”.
Sulaiman asked the President to tender the WAEC Attestation Certificate to the electoral umpire if Buhari and his party, APC, were sure of their celebrated document (WAEC Attestation), which they acquired through fraudulent means. He pointed out many discrepancies in the earlier acclaimed Buhari 2015 Statement of Result and 2018 WAEC Attestation, which made Nigerians, home and abroad to conclude that the two acclaimed results and attestation were fake and forged, referring to a letter earlier emanating from the Ghana headquarters of the WAEC, which confirmed that no record of Muhammed Buhari or Muhammadu Buhari was found in its record among students that sat for the West African School Certificate Examination(WASCE) in 1961.
Many believe that Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have brought the country into disrepute among comity of nations in the world, noting that the name of President Buhari and Nigeria would be the first in the Guinness Book of Records as the first person and country where her leader paraded fake and forged certificate, stating that the immediate past minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun and President Buhari are birds of the same feather that flock together.
“All evidences at our disposal have shown that Buhari fraudulently procured the controversial certificate and that is the reason why they could not tender it anywhere as official document.
“This shows that Buhari lacks the needed integrity to continue as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and not eligible to vie for any elective position, not to talk of being Nigeria President”.
Sulaiman concluded by calling on the Ghana national headquarters of the examination body (WAEC) to set up an independent panel of inquiry to investigate the major scam of presenting fake and forged Attestation Certificate to President Muhammadu Buhari by bringing the culprit to book so as to serve as deterrent to others.
Oby Ezekwesili @obyezeks fires the shot: “Nigeria is in crisis, and yet the #APCPDP is fighting over a WAEC certificate? These guys just don’t get it”…trust the iron lady with her stands.
Dele Momodu Ovation @DeleMomodu said Finally: President Muhammadu Buhari receives his WAEC Certificate nearly 60 years after writing exams and the original disappeared from military files…”
Femi Fani-Kayode @realFFK “I congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari on his “attestation” certificate. Now can we see the real one?” ajiboye godwin @ajiboye_godwin
Farooq Kperogi, Ph.D @farooqkperogi said “this is how the Cambridge University Local Examinations Syndicate-administered WAEC school certificate that Buhari said he had in 1961 looks like. If Buhari wants it, he should apply to Cambridge Assessment, the successor to CULES and he will get his certificate within 28 days.
It’s now painfully obvious that Buhari perjured himself when he claimed in many INEC forms that he had a school certificate. Turns out he only sat for a mock WASC exam but never took the official WASC exam. If Naija were a nation of laws, he should have been impeached and jailed
Babasola Kuti @SKSolaKuti thinks If only that paper confirmed Nigeria is now the top performing economy in the world…We could all celebrate. But we are the poverty capital of the world and some old men who are nothing but economic parasites are laughing over a forged certificate. Buhari did not sit for WAEC
Lere Olayinka – Aresa 1 @OlayinkaLere asked “So why did Buhari hire 13 SANs in 2015 instead of simply obtaining this “certificate” from WAEC?”
Michael oluwaseun @realmikkycash: WAEC is 67years (1951) PMB is 74years old he wrote WAEC exams in 1958. ie He was 7years old when he wrote WAEC. Corruption continua”.
@utehgold twitted WAEC gave Buhari one certificate, Nigeria army is holding one, secondary school in Katsina gave him the first one, Buhari now has three result from one exam he never sat for.
ThankGod Ukachukwu @kcnaija  “WAEC or no WAEC, I will still win, a good leader needs no certificate” – Buhari is gradually making education meaningless in Nigeria, If the president who should uphold hard work and excellence in education treats WAEC certificate with such disdain…”
PRINCE PAUL @Nese4040 said “Only in Nigeria that someone who is looking for job we be asking to present his or her credentials before the interview even 5yrs working experience but @Mrpresident cannot produce #WAEC. God save Nigeria”.
Strange world indeed, the least important things are doing well and most important things are just hanging on. I don’t know about you, but in as much as this inspiration became irresistible, best right thing to do is to give it to it, write. ‘This is what gives our Nigerian brand its delicious mildness’. Life meant different things for different reasons, may be this is what Mother Nature wants and think its ok. I don’t want to reward my incompetence with blind loyalty, as long as I have my senses, I try write.
