The Magaji Nda of Ilorin, Alhaji Soliu Woru Mohammed on Sunday reacted
to the comment of the President General of the Afonja Descendant
Progressives Union of Ilorin, Alhaji AbdulKareem Olola Kasumu alleged
Fulani suppression of the Yorubas in Ilorin.
Kasumu in an interview in one of the national dailies had alleged that
the Fulanis in the emirate were trying to obliterate the role played
by Afonja in the establishment of Ilorin.
But Magaji Nda who picked holes in many of the claims about the
history and tradition of the Ilorin Emirate as presented by Kasumu
described the move as an attempt incite the citizens against one
another.

various tribes that made up the Ilorin emirate adding that a lot of
inter-marriages have succeeded in bringing the various ethnic groups
in the state as one.
He said: Kwara particularly the emirates belongs to all and sundry
without any ethnicity or religion. Everybody in Kwara are from the
same source from Adam.
“There was no problem between Alimi and Afonja as claimed by Kasumu
but that is a story for another day.
“We have had lots of intermarriages between the Fulani and Yoruba
since time immemorial and for somebody to now be talking of ethnicity…
“We appealed to the unsuspecting member of the public to ignore him
continue to live together in peace and harmony. Ilorin belongs to all
tribes whether Hausa, Gobir, Yoruba, Fulani and others. We have all
intermarried.
“His statement contains a lot of false account but that that is a
story for another time but this is the time to appeal
