Ikhana: I’m still on sabbatical

Former Kano Pillars gaffer, Kadiri Ikhana, has insisted he has no immediate plan to return to full time football coaching, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The former Enyimba International coach says he is on sabbatical and needs more time with his family who had endured torrid time in his absence.

Ikhana resigned as manager of NPFL side Kano Pillars following series of bad results churned in by the club just before the commencement of the second half of the current league season.

“I am still on sabbatical for now, and I have no plans to go back into coaching job after those injuries I sustained in Kano. I am enjoying my time with my family at the moment.

“Almighty God has been good to me as far as the job is concerned. I think it’s time for me to have serious rest and I have no intention of returning to active coaching for now.”

Ikhana had announced his departure from the Club on “health issues” following 0-1 home loss to Akwa United.

It would be recalled the coach was attacked after the match and was placed on medical supervision in Abeokuta, Ogun state. He cited the injury sustained during the attack as motivation for his decision and declared the he is no longer strong enough to stand the rigours of the job.

IKhana noted that the aftermath of comprehensive medical examinations led him to the realisation that it’s time to quit the game, adding that it was unfortunate he was not able to fulfill his wishes for the club.
