The Nigeria Prison Service, Kwara State command will on Wednesday begin screening exercise for over 400 Kwara indigenes that have earlier been shortlisted for the exercise.
This was disclosed last Thursday in a press briefing by the Controller of Prisons, Kwara State command, Adebisi Adewale Francis, at the headquarters in Ilorin.
According to the controller, the recruitment exercise is scheduled to hold at St. Anthony Secondary School opposite the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) centre and it will last for three days beginning on Wednesday.
He however promised that the exercise will be done with all fairness, adding that those that will make the final list will be chosen based on merit.
Speaking on how the recruitment will be conducted, the Controller maintained that the exercise has been divided into three categories; Superintendent Cadre, Inspectorate Cadre and Prison Assistant Cadre saying no fewer than 100 applicants are expected each day.
“For a while, we’ve been having security challenges in the country. The Controller of Prisons deemed it fit to request from the presidency permission to recruit some staff into the service to beef up security in the country. The President has graciously approved it and advert was placed and interested applicants applied online. Those who qualified have been shortlisted.
“Now it is time for us to screen those who have been shortlisted. The statistics we have with us is 11,153 candidates who have been shortlisted throughout the country. For Kwara State, we will are expecting 300 to 400 applicants that will be available for screening.
