Vehicle Purchase: I was not lobbied by any commissioner – Kwara Speaker

The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Yakubu Danladi-Salihu has denied media reports that he is being lobbied by the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hajia Aisha Pategi over procurement of exotic jeeps.
The media aide to the speaker, Ibrahim Sheriff, in a statement signed in Ilorin said the report is not only untrue, “but illogical and unreasonable. The write-up in its entirety is malicious and laced with absolute falsehood”, he added.
He said, “The 2020 budget has been passed through a thorough process, duly communicated to the general public, which has all Commissioners and Public/Civil Service Heads defend their respective budgets proposals and no ministry has provision for purchase of vehicle for Hon. Commissioner, provision for purchase of vehicles for all political office holders is made under the Governor’s office.
He further said copy of the approved budget is available on the State Government’s website for public assessment.
“The Executive and Legislative arms of government in Kwara State have so far, though independent, enjoyed mutual respect and harmonious working relationship in the best interest of the people, a relationship we will continue to sustain to further our course of achieving a greater Kwara.
He consequently urged the public to disregard the report and warned the perpetrators to desist from misleading the public to avoid being caught by long arm of the law.
Recall that a a viral social media report  had alleged that the commissioner lobbied the speaker through the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi over the purported procurement of exotic jeeps.
