The Kwara State Government has been advised to maximize religion for the development of the state.
Head Missioner, Kwara State Branch of NADWAT, Imam Aliyu Olayinka Gbamuragaji gave the advice during the One Million Salawat for the Prophet (SAW) held at LGEA Secondary School, Ipake, Ilorin South Local Government on Saturday.
According to him, there is the need to consider religion as part of the government which can contribute meaningfully to the success of its programmes and policies through advice and prayer for the social-economic wellbeing of the people.
He said “The main essence of the programme is to gather here and make one million salawat for the Prophet (SAW) expecting Almighty Allah to reward us abundantly as He has promised anybody that did such. We are also going to recite the Quran for the peace and harmony in Kwara State, the nation and world at large.
“One has to be civil and courteous in advising the government rather than being disrespectful, advise to the government by individual and groups must be done with wisdom.
“This can be achieved by drawing the government’s attention to the dictates and injunctions of Almighty Allah in the Qur’an and tradition of the Holy Prophet (SAW).
“We also need to pray for them for Almighty Allah to guide them to the right path to succeed from the beginning to the end of the tenures. This is very important”, he noted.
He advised members to always put their reliance in Allah by being prayerful in whatever situations they found themselves and believe that Almighty Allah is always there to assist His servants.
In her response, the Wakil and Head of the Women Wing of NADWAT, Alhaja Rafat Ajelanwa said the programme, the second in the calendar of the association, is coming at a very important time when prayer is most needed in the affairs of individuals, state and country at large.
She advised women and mothers to prioritise prayer for breakthroughs in their family and other social-financial problems and called on the government to put more efforts on religious matters for the physical and spiritual development of the state and country.
The well attended programme featured recitation of portions of the Glorious Qur’an and spiritual sermon.
