KWSG seeks Emir, IEDPU support on implementation of new Ilorin master plan

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji lbrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) and other stakeholders have been called upon to assist the state government on the implementation of a report on the new Ilorin master plan.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof Mamman Shaba-Jubril, made the call in Ilorin on Saturday while receiving the report of a 22-man Committee saddled with responsibility of the new Ilorin master plan.
The SSG, after receiving the report from the Chairman of the Committee, Prof Jacob Olorunfemi, urged the Emir of Ilorin and the IEDPU, an umbrella union of all indigenes of Ilorin to complement the state government’s efforts on the new Ilorin master plan.
“The Emir and the IEDPU must begin sensitisation of indigenes and residents of Ilorin Emirate on the changes that will occur during the implementation of the new master plan,” he said.
He gave assurance that the state government would study the report critically and make use of all the recommendations with the view of transforming the Ilorin metropolis to a mega city.
Shaba-Jibril commended the initiative of Gov Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on the new Ilorin master plan which he noted would bring more fortunes to the ancient city.
The SSG praised the foresight of the committee for submitting the report within one month of its inauguration.
Chairman of the Committee, in his remarks said the committee came up with useful recommendations that would transform Ilorin Emirate to mega city.
He said the committee touched all its terms of reference and noticed that there were encroachments on setbacks and institutional lands which needed to be addressed.
Olorunfemi expressed the hope that Ilorin would be transformed when the report is implemented to the letter.
The presentation of the report was witnessed by the Commissioner for Special Duty, Mrs Funke Oyedun and Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duty, Alhaji Yinka Aluko.
Recall that the 22-man committee drawn from different sectors of the economy was inaugurated on Nov 18, 2019.
