2019: Kwara CP cautions party supporters against violence

 

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Fafowora Bolaji has warned supporters of all the political parties against violent acts that may disrupt the peace enjoyed in the state.
Fafowora gave the warning through a statement issued yesterday by the Command spokesman, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi.
The CP stated that, “information available to the Kwara State Police Command revealed plans by some agents and supporters of various political parties to foment trouble in the state using rallies, processions and political gatherings as a platform to advance and achieve their devilish goals.
“This can be noticed in the recent rallies undertaking by some political groups, where foul languages, name calling as well as reeling out fake news, through the social media, in flagrant disregard to the electoral laws and the Federal Government’s campaign against fake news and hate speeches, were deployed.”
Fafowora added that, in view of the above, the Command is by this release, appealing to party leaders in the state to sensitise their supporters on the need to be guided by the laws of the land.
The police boss advised politicians to play the game according to the rules adding that the command is fully prepared to arrest and prosecute any person or group of persons found undermining the laws of the land under any guise regardless of their political affiliations.
