Ilorin airport records 77,286 passengers, 2,566 aircraft in 2017

A total of 77,286 passengers were airlifted from the Ilorin International Airport and 2,812 aircraft movements were recorded from January to December in 2017, Pilot Aviation can report.
Statistics released by the Operation Unit of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, (FAAN) at the airport, was exclusively obtained by this medium on Friday.
The figures showed that there is a marked improvement on the record of the previous year. In 2016, 63,441 passengers were airlifted from the airport while there were 2,812 aircraft movements.
From the records, the month of September had the highest passengers airlifted while March recorded the lowest passenger volume. October had the highest number of aircraft movement while the lowest was in February and April.
A breakdown showed the number of air passengers for January as 3,895, February 4,236 and March recorded 3,608 passengers.
In the month of April 3,846 passengers were airlifted, May had 5,335, June 4,247 while July recorded 6,345 and 11,039 for August.
11, 049 passengers were airlifted in September and October 8,825 while November and December had record of 7,837 and 7,024 passengers respectively.
For aircraft movement January, February and March had 176, 172 and 178 respectively while and April recorded 172 and the month of May had 216 aircraft.
192 aircraft movement were recorded in, July 248 and August 260 with September having 230 and 278, 248 and 196 for October, November and December respectively.
Assessing the statistics, the Airport Manager, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdul-Azeez who spoke to our reporter, through the Head of Corporate Affairs Mr. Adeyeoluwa Oluwakayode said the figures indicated that more air passengers travelled through the airport via Ilorin route during the year under review.
