Four policemen in Ilorin on Thursday allegedly escaped being lynched by the residence of Eleko around Kwara Polytechnic Area on Thursday, National Pilot gathered last night.
Troubled reportedly started when the affected policemen whose name could not be ascertained last night stormed the area effect he arrest of suspected phone thief that was traced to the area.
The residence however resisted the move and descended on the officers who was said to have seriously beaten.
According to a source, it was one of the elders (Bale) of the community that rescued the four officers from the hands of their attackers.
“They came to arrest one of the boys whose was traced to the area over a reported stolen phone. But in the attempt to arrest him the residents resisted and descended on them. They escaped lynching by the whiskers. It was the intervention of one of the elders of the area that saved them”, the source added.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Police PPRO last night, Ajayi Okasanmi were not successful as he did not respond to calls seeking for clarification.
