Rainstorm destroys offices, buildings, computers at Ilorin INEC

The Kwara State Head Office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) came under heavy ruins last week following the heavy downpour in the state.
The rainstorm which did not spare any part of the expansive complex destroyed the commission’s fence, offices, conference hall, car park, Information Technology Centre (ICT), collation centre, secretary’s office among others. Items also affected include office equipment such as, computers, files and documents were submerged due to the impact of the disaster.
Speaking with National Pilot shortly after assessment of the impact of damage, the Residence Electoral Commissioner , Kwara State , Mallam Garba Attahiru Madami lamented the massive destruction which he note has exposed the commission to security threat and pleaded for assistance as a matter of urgency.
Madami called on the national body to quickly come to their aid in order to allow them carry on with their primary responsibilities, stressing that affected equipment and building runs into several millions of naira.
“The incidence affected us greatly because when we estimated the damage done, millions of naira worth of property were destroyed as a result of the incident. So are soliciting for assistance from the national body to as a matter of urgency come to our rescue so that we would be able to effectively and efficiently move on with our official duties , if not , we would be in a precarious situation since it is a natural disaster and this is its season.” he stated.
