Herdsmen attack APC PRO’s farm in Kwara, injure farmer

A farmer, Yakub Salasi is struggling for his life following an attack on him by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Friday in Offa.
It was learnt that the herdsmen had invaded a farmland behind Offa University and launched attack on those working on the farm.
Salasi, it was learnt was inflicted with matchete cut on his mouth and ear, while others on the farm escaped the onslaught.
According to Kwara Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) PRO, Babawale Afolabi, suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked the farm which belonged to Alhaji Tajudeen Aro, the Public Relations Officer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) PRO in offa .
“The farm which is located behind Offa University was attacked by suspected herdsmen at about 1800.00rhs on Friday, 18th June 2021 carried out the attack, according to information at our disposal .
“The farmers launched reprisal attack in bid to overpower the suspected herdsmen and in the process, a farmer, Yakub Salasi 27 years old sustained serious injuries and the suspects took to their heels when they noticed the farmers had alerted the NSCDC JTF in Offa.
“The JFT Offa division and vigilantes went to the farm where the victim was rescued and moved to nearby hospital in Ilemona for treatment.
“Meanwhile, in an effort by the NSCDC JTF to arrest the suspects, cows belonging to them were recovered at the farm. Later Alhaji Sabo Yaro, a Fulaniman intervened and promised to assist us to smoke out the suspects .
“The victim was later transferred to Abdulsalam hospital in Offa for further treatment. The cows will be moved to the Offa division for proper investigation and necessary action,” he added
