PDP Sweeps All 30 LGAs, 332 Wards in Osun

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged victorious in all 30 local government areas and 332 wards in Osun Stateโs recently concluded local government elections.
Announcing the results on Saturday, Hashim Abioye, chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), confirmed the PDPโs sweeping success across the state.
โIโm glad to announce to you that the local government election as conducted by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission has been successfully concluded,โ Abioye said.
โIt was conducted in compliance with constitutional provisions and extant laws, regulations and guidelines. The election was conducted to fill the existing vacancies in the 332 wards in Osun state and 30 local government areas.
“The election was contested by 18 political parties and results have been submitted to the commission. The available results as obtained from the field, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 332 wards emerged as winners.

The chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Hashim Abioye, on Saturday, claimed that police officers blocked access to the commissionโs office, preventing journalists from obtaining accreditation tags and jackets required for election coverage.
Abioye further alleged that OSSIEC officials, along with voting materials, were detained while en route to polling stations, delaying the electoral process.
Meanwhile, the police had earlier called for the suspension of the local government elections, citing significant security concerns.
On Friday, police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi stated that โcredible intelligenceโ indicated that certain individuals were plotting to disrupt the peace in Osun State.
