Robbery: 2 to die by hanging in Ilorin

For involving in armed robbery, two persons; Yusuf Adisa and Olaolapo Bolaji were last Thursday sentenced to death by High Court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State.
The two convicts were charged for the offences of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery contrary to sections 6(b) and 1(2) of armed robbery and firearms act LFN 2004.
According to the judgement delivered by the trial judge, Justice Adenike Akinpelu, began the prosecutor of the convicts in 2016.
On 15th August, 2016, the convicts were arrested for robbing one Yinusa Jimoh Abolaji at Anifowose Street, airport area, Ilorin.
While armed with dangerous weapons, the judgement stated that the convicts dispossessed Abolaji of some valuable items.
The trial judge also added that the convicts have right to appeal within 30 days of the judgement.
The prosecutors were; Kwara State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Barr. Abdulmumini Adebimpe Jimoh and Barr. Kayode Adeleye.
Barr. B. Ayeigbami stood in for the 1st accused while Barr. Toyin Onaolapo represented the 2nd convict.
Speaking with this medium after the proceedings, Onaolapo lauded the court for delivering what he described as ‘thorough job’.
The convicts’ counsel however reiterated that his clients who have been sentenced to death by hanging have constitutional rights to appeal the judgement.
