Kwara NUJ holds Award ceremony tomorrow

 

All is set for the conferment of merit awards on four distinguished personalities by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State council, on Tuesday (tomorrow).

The award is in recognition of the valuable contributions of the awardees to the development of the society.

The ceremony which is part of activities lined up for the council’s 2018 Press Week celebration will hold at the Press Center, opposite St. Anthony Secondary School, Offa road, Ilorin, beginning by 5pm prompt.

The ceremony, according to a statement signed by the 2018 Press Week Committee Chairman, Alhaji Suleiman Aremu, would be chaired by the former chairman of the state NUJ, Alhaji Mohammed Tunde Akanbi.

The special guest of honour is Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communications, Alhaji Ishaq Mohammed Sabi.

Among the eminent personalities to be awarded on the occasion include the Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer of Ayo-Ayodele Pharmaceutical Chemists Nig. Ltd, Hon. Ayodele Shittu; The Special Assistant on Conflict Resolutions to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Umar Balogun; The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media and Publicity to the Executive Governor of Niger State, Mr Jide Orintunsin and Chief Medical Director of Anchormed, Professor Adegboye Fawole.

The statement added that all the winners and participants at the just concluded Inter-Chapel Table Tennis Competition are advised to attend as prizes will be presented to them during the programme.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Committee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kwara State Council has urged all chapels in the state to submit the list of their delegates who will vote in the July 4th election.

A statement signed by the Secretary of the committee, Barrister Mashood Zarumi, said the delegates’ list is expected to be submitted on or before tomorrow, Tuesday, June 26, 2018.

The statement explained that it is important for members and chapels to note that payment of check off due and professional/online registration is prerequisite for the accreditation of all delegates who will vote in the election.

The committee advised chapel leaders to ensure that they attach necessary documents which would indicate that delegates from their chapels are qualified NUJ members and in good financial standing.

The committee solicited support and cooperation of all members towards the conduct of a free and fair election.
