The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kwara State Command has intercepted a truck loaded with PMS known as petrol.
The incident happened around 1:00 am, when the operatives impounded the truck in Afon, Asa Local Government Area of the State.
The NSCDC Commandant, Kwara Command, Makinde Ayinla who disclosed this in a press statement signed by the PRO, Zaid Afolabi, a copy of which was made available to National Pilot said the suspected vandals took to their heels on sighting the Anti- Vandal Squad of the command.
“They took to their heels on sighting our officers on patrol in the middle of the night. The 33,000 litres truck containing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly called petrol, fell on the ground while they were trying to escape.”
According to Makinde, the fleeing suspects will soon be tracked down, apprehended and prosecuted.
He reiterated the commitment of the NSCDC in fighting insecurity, noting that the Commandant-General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi is determined to protect all critical government infrastructures.
