Zakari condemns destruction of stadium synthetic pitch by Kwara Governor

Former Commissioner for sport in Kwara and a member of the 8th National Assembly, Hon Zakari Mohammed has expressed sadness over abuse of Kwara state stadium complex by the APC government under Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, describing it as sad and uncalled for.
Zakari, while narrating how reconstruction and upgrading of the stadium happened under Saraki Government while he was commissioner explained how Saraki Government expanded the Capacity of the facility from 7000 to 26,000 and the rationale behind construction of Metropolitan Square located in Asa Dam area of Ilorin.
He said : “When Dr Bukola Saraki was Governor and I was Commissioner for sports we banned all non sports and particularly football events from the stadium,I took a memo to council and it’s approval gave birth to the refurbished stadium,which my Brother Hon Kannike completed from 7000 capacity to about 26000 capacity.”
“This denial of the stadium use gave rise to the conception and construction of the metropolitan square in Asa Dam which could host any event. Sad that the stadium is being abused.”
Kwarans from across party lines including members of ruling APC have been condemning undue destruction and erections of Iron polls on the main bow area of the football pitch by men working for Kwara state government.
