As the 2023 general election is around the corner, hundreds of All Progressives Congress members in Baboko Ward, Ilorin West LGA have decamped to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State.
Receiving the decampees, the PDP Chairman in Ilorin West Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdulkadir Issa charged PDP members to continue to be tolerant and united for the progress and development of the party in the state.
In his remarks, the PDP Chairman, Baboko Ward, Alhaji Kayode Yakub, while appreciating the executive members of Ilorin West, other stakeholders of Baboko Ward and all members of the party in the Ward, said politics is a game of number and promised the new entrants of an inclusive system.
The Ward Chairman hinted that PDP under the leadership of Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki will continue to listen to the yearnings of the members and commended everyone for the overwhelming support for the presidential bid of the former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
The leader of the defectors, Hajia Kafila Olawumi, said their coming back to PDP is not unconnected with the unending crisis in the ruling APC and also to support the Presidential ambition of the Waziri ngeri of Ilorin Emirate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki in the 2023 general elections.
Hajia Olawumi said PDP is a purposeful party with a leadership which carters for her members. She disclosed that more APC members and supporters will soon join PDP before the next general elections as everyone is more than disappointed in Gov Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led APC and government .
Also speaking, one of the stakeholders in Baboko Ward, Alhaji Bodunrin Jiddah and the Ward Publicity Secretary, Mashood Ajassa said the party will leave no stone unturned to ensure landslide victory for PDP in the coming elections.
