Serikin Malamai: Imam Ali-Agan is an Islamic Scholar with good character and pedigree – Saraki

The President of the 8th Senate and Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Saturday, paid homage to a respected Islamic scholar, Fodillat Sheikh, Al-Imam Ya’qub Ali-Agan, to felicitate him on his recent turbaning as the Serikin Malamai of Ilorin.
Sheikh Ali-Agan was last month installed as the new Serikin Malamai (Grand Scholar) of Ilorin by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, in recognition of his contributions to the growth of Islam and development of Ilorin.
According to a statement released by Abdulqadir Abdulganiyu, who’s the Press Officer on Local Matters to Saraki, the Waziri Ngeri visited Ali-Agan at his Ilorin residence and said he was well-deserving of the traditional title.
He lauded Ali-Agan’s relentless efforts towards the propagation of Islamic teachings in Ilorin and beyond while also appreciating him for his continued support and prayers for him and his family.
“I have come here to felicitate you on your turbaning as the Serikin Malamai of Ilorin by our father and Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari. I wish you well and pray Allah grant you good health, more wisdom and long life to serve Him and our people. I also appreciate you for always supporting and praying for us,” Saraki said.
The former Senate President who described the revered Islamic Scholar as a man of good character and pedigree, said he had distinguished himself in his chosen path.
In his response, Sheikh Ali-Agan thanked Saraki for the visit. He prayed for him, his late father and also wished him well in his presidential ambition.
