PDP Convention: Ex-African youth leader rallies delegates for Saraki

Former President, Pan African Youth Union, Comrade Ben Duntoye has called on Nigerian youths participating in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primaryย ย coming up this weekend in Port Harcourt, Rivers state to vote end masse for the Senate President and presidential aspirant, Dr Bukola Saraki.
Duntoye, who is also the Chairman, Nigerian Youth Leaders Congress, during a chat with newsmen in Ilorin, Kwara state yesterday said Nigerian youths should support Saraki to emerge the presidential candidate of the PDP.
He said electing Saraki as PDP’s flagbearer for the 2019 presidential election “will make us achieve the Nigeria of our dreams as Saraki will reset a good foundation for the nation.
Duntoye described Saraki as a detribalised Nigerian through whose presidency unity and tranquillity will return to the country.
The activist added: “Young people coming to Port Harcourt should give Saraki their votes. This will make us achieve the Nigeria of our dreams as Saraki will reset a good foundation for the nation. Unity, People and tranquility will return. Saraki is a detribalised Nigerian. He is a bridge between the old and young, new and older generations. He is experienced and matured.
Saraki’s track record as Kwara governor, chairman Nigerian Governors Forum and as Senate President of Nigeria stands him tall among other PDP presidential aspirants.
“Nigerian youths have not suffered like they did under the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. Millions of our teaming youths have lost their jobs. Their small scale businesses have collapsed because of hash policies of government.โ
ย Kwara Guber: Youths hold solidarity rally for Atunwa
Family members and youth from Ilorin West on Wednesday stormed various streets in Ilorin to rally support for the Peoples Democratic candidate for the governorship election in Kwara state, Hon Razak Atunwa.
The rally which took the group past major streets of Okekere, Omoda and Ajikobi among others in the state capital was meant to also thanked the national leader of the party and Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki for finding Atunwa worthy to take the state to the next level.
Speaking at Okekere, shortly before the group hit the street, the Magaji Elewuetu, Alhaji Isiaka Atanda Sheu Elewuetu said he is proud to see one of his sons as the one chosen by Allah to lead the state if wins the ticket adding that Atunwa’s tenure will be characterised with development for the people and state. He thanked Dr Bukola Saraki, the Emir of Ilorin and the entire people of the state for standing by him and urged them to continue to support him to succeed if voted.
Also a youth leader, Comrade Hussein Jamiu Elelu said the rally was a solidarity one and adding that Atunwa has the political wherewithal to steer the ship of the state having been in the system and understand the modus operandi.
The Secretary of Atunwa Alliance Team, Comrade AbdulLateef Muhammed Jamiu said they are all happy for the Atunwa’s choice. He noted that the former Kwara Speaker has stayed and identified with the people since he got into positions of authority adding that this will not be different.
In his comment, AbdurRahman Oluwabukola Elewuetu thanked the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and the Magaji for their support on Atunwa, adding that his administration if elected will not disappoint the but rather be the governor of everybody in the state.
Also, a polling unit canvasser, Yahaya Tawakalitu (Warrior) said they are happy that Atunwa has emerged adding that he will by god’s grace not betray the confidence repose on him. She noted that Atunwa is a very popular person in Ilorin West and Asa.
The rally was organised by the Elewuetu family.
