In a bid to boost exportation in the country, the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has sensitised business owners on how to export their goods by the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
The council sensitised about 100 participants at a workshop and exhibition programme in Ilorin, last Thursday.
Speaking on the theme ‘Understanding AGOA export procedures and documentation,’ the representative of NEPC Zonal Coordinator, Mrs. Bolanle Emmanuel said “the programme of AGOA has been on for several years and we want Nigerians exporters to take advantage of it.
” We want people to take this opportunity provided by AGOA as many businessman and women in Sub Sahara African countries have been exporting their commodities for long on the platform.
She said the programme is meant to educate business owners on the requirements for exportation of different goods and to various countries.
Emmanuel urged potential exporters to register with the council before proceeding for embarking on exportation.
According to her, many manufacturers are ignorant of AGOA in the country and not conversant with the requirements.
Also speaking, the Director of NEPC Kwara Smart Office, Mr. Andrew Okhiulu called stakeholders and manufacturers to be creative by ensuring that their products are world standard before exporting them.
He said “Nigerians generally can do well by having our products very competitive in the international markets thereby becoming more profitable.
