An Ilorin-based legal practitioner, F.E. Ikebundu, has instituted legal action against the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Inspector General of Police and National Pilot Newspaper over a 2019 case linking him to alleged homosexual activities.
Ikebundu, who was arrested in 2019 by operatives of the Kwara State Police Command and charged to court in connection with the allegation, claimed that the publication of the report by National Pilot severely damaged his reputation and professional standing.
The case came up for hearing on Tuesday before Hon. Justice T S. Umar at the Kwara State High Court, Ilorin and Ikebundu was represented by Barrister Mohammed Mikhail.
During the proceedings, the legal representatives to National Pilot, Barrister Michael Owoniseola, filed a motion seeking an extension of time to enable the first and second defendants file a joint statement of defence.
Justice Umar granted the application and adjourned the matter to May 27, 2025, for mention.
