Kwara APC Stalwart Resigns, Accuses Party of Failed Promises

A notable figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Dr. Abdulmumin Ajia, has officially resigned from the party.

In his resignation letter, he highlighted “gross incompetence and loss of legitimacy” under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his primary reasons for leaving.

Ajia addressed his resignation letter to the party’s state chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, and also shared it with journalists in Ilorin over the weekend.

Ajia, who previously ran for governor with the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) in Kwara in 2019, voiced his dissatisfaction with the APC’s performance. He criticized the party for allegedly failing to fulfill its promises and instead “visiting misery and death” upon Nigerians.

He urged others who share his views to leave the party and work towards achieving “real change” in Nigeria.

Ajia noted that his recent criticisms of the APC leadership had sparked significant debate within political circles, indicating growing discontent among some party members in the state.

Commenting on the national protests against hardship, he expressed his support for the demonstrators, accusing the government of insensitivity. “I hereby show solidarity with the people protesting against bad governance in Nigeria.

“I understand it does not just start today, however, there has to be a point where people would draw the line to say enough is enough.

“It’s shameful that people in government are living large; they don’t look like people who miss one meal in a day, but they keep asking commoners to continue to persevere. How come perseverance and sacrifice are not being shared equally?

“So I am here to show solidarity with people that believe this country can do better and has to be better for all,” he said.
