Sobi FM GM debunks closure of radio station by KWSG

The General Manager of Sobi FM, Segun Adeniji, yesterday, debunked the alleged closure of the radio station by the Kwara State Government.
Recall that for about three days, hundreds of listeners of the Sobi FM were disappointed as the radio station failed to air any of its programmes including the widely followed breakfast programme; Feli Feli. Instead, the radio station played music all through those days as if it was embarking on test transmission.
News however went round that the station had been shut by the Kwara State government for reasons undisclosed.
Speaking in a telephone interview with our reporter last night, the GM said the radio station only had a technical problem which had since been rectified.
“I will like to correct the rumour that the Kwara State Government locked up Sobi FM, there was nothing of such. The state government never locked up our station. What happened was that we had a technical problem which had been resolved,” Adeniji divulged.
On the amount the radio station may have lost due to the hitch, the GM kept sealed lips saying, “I cannot disclose our loss because it is an internal affair,” adding that the challenge may have turned a blessing as the station is gaining more followership.
“Our followers are more attentive to us than before and than any other station. Sobi FM remains the number one radio station in town and we will continue to be number one.”
When our reporter sought to speak with the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Kwara State Governor, Dr Muyideen Akorede, he confirmed Adeniji’s claim adding that the radio station had resumed full operation.
Recall that last Wednesday, the radio station through its Facebook page, urged the public to disregard the rumour that Sobi FM was locked or banned from broadcasting, saying that there is no iota of truth in the rumour.
